Becoming a Digital Champion of USW

A couple weeks ago students of BA (hons) Primary Studies with QTS received an email which stated that applications were now being accepted to join the digital champions programme at the University. After mulling the idea over for a few days I decided it was actually a project I would love to be a part of. I liked the idea of being able to develop my own skills so that I can then help others expand their knowledge of the digital world and use digital devices to aid the learning of children within the classroom. Plus, it would also look great on my CV when applying for jobs next year!

Last week I received the email saying that I had been chosen to become a digital champion of the University of South Wales. I could not be more overjoyed and instantly began thinking of ideas that other digital champions and I can do to help others.

Today we had our first meeting as a group, and although it was at first daunting, I think that very soon we will make a great team. We shared ideas that as students we would like to bring to the University, and Mat shared with us a few things he has in the pipeline. I am most excited about the Teach Meet that the University of South Wales will be hosting in July. It will give us as digital leaders a chance to speak to members of staff from our partnership schools about apps and digital products we think could be incorporated into schools. I will share more information on this in a separate post and keep you up to date as we receive more information.

Due to becoming a digital champion I have also decided to devote half of my blog to what we are doing as a team but also to reflect on digital products that I begin to use or would like to use in a school setting.

I am looking forward to writing my first post in the next few days. I have decided to dedicate my first post to one of the first apps I began to look at in order to develop learning – Seesaw. From interacting with Seesaw, I am constantly finding different ways it can be used which I will share with you very soon.
